| THE DOE MISSION FOR GLOBAL CHANGE EDUCATION PROGRAM
This comes from the Office of Biological and Environmental Research, Acting Associate Director, Dr. Jerry Elwood. The Office of Biological and Environmental Research manages the Department of Energy, Biological and Environmental Research (BER) program. The BER programís extraordinary legacy spans 50 years and includes these three areas:
The mission of the OBER program is to develop the knowledge needed to identify, understand, and anticipate the long-term health and environmental consequences of energy production, development, and use. This mission is carried out through the program's support of peer-reviewed research at DOE National Laboratories, universities, and private institutions. The research is also designed to provide science in support of the Energy Policy Act of 1992. The BER vision is to bring revolutionary solutions to the energy-related biomedical and environmental challenges. Go to our Web site -- http://www.atmos.anl.gov/GCEP/ and you will find logos that connect to the various programmatic areas, i.e. atmospheric radiative measurements (ARM), and atmospheric chemistry program (ACP), etc. Each of these links has statements about the mission and research goals of the various programs. I am not sure what your interests are -- ecology, atmospheric chemistry, etc., but I am sure you will find input for your statement at these sites. If you are still in need of guidance regarding your goals statement, please contact either Milton Constantin, at milton.constantin@orau.org or Jeff Gaffney at jsgaffney@ualr.edu, and they will be happy to try and clarify any confusion you might have. I hope the above helps to answers some of your questions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeff Gaffney at 501-569-8840 or e-mail jsgaffney@ualr.edu; Or you can contact Milt Constantin at 865-576-7009 or e-mail milton.constantin@orau.org. | |
