ABLE Radiosonde System

General Purpose
The radiosonde system, when acquired, would provide in situ measurements (vertical profiles)
of both the thermodynamic state of the atmosphere and the wind speed and direction.
Disposable sondes would be launched from a ground station at the Central Site.
The primary quantities are measured as functions of time during a free-balloon ascent:
- Pressure (hPa)
- Temperature (deg C)
- Relative Humidity (%RH)
- Wind speed (m/s)
- Wind direction (deg)
Secondary (derived) quantities included in the data stream, also measured as functions of time, are:
- Altitude (gpm)
- Dew Point (deg C)
- Ascent Rate (m/s)
- Latitude of Sonde (deg N)
- Longitude of Sonde (deg W)
- u-component of wind velocity (m/s)
- v-component of wind velocity (m/s)
